Song of the Week

I love music. I have since I was a little girl. Music was always playing in our house. With that in mind, I have decided to post my “song of the week”. I love k love radio (click the name and you will go to their website). They play really good Christian music. My kids love it! What a joy to hear my kids singing in the morning before they go to school. So with all that said, here is my favorite song of the week. I hope you like it. BTW,  it’s suppose to be played in the morning, but I just simply love it. I hope you do too.

Troubles

When you first become a Christian, you are on cloud nine! You feel as if nothing can bring you down. But, the reality of life sets in. You still have troubles. You still have worries. Some of your friends have left you. Some of your family have left you. Some people are talking bad about you. You begin to wonder if being a Christian is really worth it.

Are you thinking this right now? I know how you feel, because I felt the same way. I thought  once I gave my life to Christ all my problems, troubles and worries would “instantly disappear”. I believed life would be “a bed of roses” and I could just cruise down “easy street”. Why did I think this? Because I was still a “baby Christian”. God never promised our life would be easy. Jesus did not have an easy life on this earth, so why do we think we are different?

The more I read and studied God’s Word,  I learned that the trials, troubles, worries and persecutions we suffer are, “but for a moment“.  2 Corinthians 4:17 says, “For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever”! What is this “glory“? Glory is knowing and believing that one, you are safe in God’s hands. Two, He will never leave you. Three, he will never put any more on you than you can bear. And finally, when this life is over, you will never have worries, troubles, pains or persecution again. Why? Because you will be in Heaven with HIM and your precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!!!! Glory to God!!!!

James 1:2-3 say,Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow”.  In other words, the troubles you go through will make you stronger.  Stronger in your hope, trust and belief in the Almighty God!!!!  The more you overcome the troubles of the world, the easier it will be for you to make it through this life. You are more than a conqueror! You are a victor!

So, my friends, when you are overwhelmed by troubles in your life, remember this: Jesus overcame and so shall we. Hold on tightly to God. He has you safely in His hands! A good friend of mine puts it this way, “Girl, God has got your back!!!!!!!!!!!”

My friends, GOD HAS GOT YOUR BACK!!!! Rejoice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On Wings Like Eagles

Everyone morning before I go out the door, I always ask God to show me His awesome wonders.  This morning it was really foggy and I thought, “God is there something in this fog I’m to see”? After I dropped my kids at school and I was pulling in front of our home, I had this urge to look up. When I looked up, I saw the house across the street from us. I looked at the roof and on their satellite dish was something, but I could not tell what it was in the fog. I walked over to the house and looked up. There was the most beautiful eagle perched right on top of the dish!!!!  It almost looked like a statue.

I looked at it to make sure it was really a live eagle and the most spectacular thing happened. The eagle looked  down at me. I just began to praise God for this beautiful moment. Me and an eagle looking directly at each other. I did not want to leave, but I had to. As I was leaving, I turned back around, looked up and the eagle was gone!!!

As I was walking back, I thought about Isaiah 40:31, “But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint”. (NKJV)  I like the Message translation which says, “But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, They run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind”.

When we are running the race of faith, there are times when we get weary. So weary that we want to give up and stop running. But God, who is our STRENGTH tells us in this verse to keep on running the race. Even though you are tired, I will give you fresh strength. I will help you finish the race!  When God gives you  strength to keep pressing on, you feel like you are soaring like an eagle! You are ready to continue the great race of faith.

When you feel tired and worn out from life and the many battles you go through. Remember Isaiah 40:31. Read it out loud. Post it on your mirror, your refrigerator, or even put it in your cell phone. When you get tired and feel as if you can not go on, read the verse out loud. Ask the Lord to give you fresh strength to continue on. He will! Then my brothers and sister in Christ, SOAR LIKE AN EAGLE!!!!!!!

being a christian

Many times I catch myself doing something that I know is wrong, but I do it anyway. Why is this? For example, one time I was shopping in a grocery store. A man dressed in black leather, tattoos and piercings everywhere was coming toward me. He had a mean look on his face and I was thinking, “oh my goodness, I hope he does not say something mean to me”! He walked right up to me, smiled and said, “God bless you my sister!” You talk about someone who was floored!!! It took me a second or two to get my thoughts together, but I smiled back and said, “God bless you too”.

What did I do wrong? I had already judged this man before I even spoke to him! I already had my mind made up that he was mean and was going to say something mean to me! My gosh, I know what God’s word says about judging people.  “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.” Matt 7:1-2 NLT  Judging is not something I am supposed to do. I felt so bad and I asked God to forgive me because I knew in my spirit that it was wrong.

When I left the store, the same man I had judged was parked right next to me! I knew I had to do the right thing and apologize to him. I said, “sir, I need to apologize to you. When I first saw you I thought you were mean and would say something mean to me. I’m sorry for judging you. I hope that you can forgive me”. (was this easy for me to do, no, but I knew I had to do it).  He just smiled at me and said, “miss, that is all right, it happens all the time.  The old me would have called you a really nasty name and I probably would have cussed you out. But, the grace of God has changed me. I am no longer that person. Now I greet everyone with the love of Christ no matter who they are or if they like it or not”. Then he gave me a hug and said, “I know it took a lot for you to come and apologize to me, but I am glad that you listened to God and did it. You are truly a beautiful person”.

I said, “good-bye and God bless” and he said the same too. But, he gave me a scripture. He said, “we try to do the right thing, but we end up doing the wrong thing, you know. I am guilty of this too. But  we can thank God for His grace and mercy to forgive us. You are trying to do what is right, I can tell. Keep it up. When you fall, Jesus will be there to lift you up”. He smiled and winked at me and left.

The scripture he gave me was,15 I don’t really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don’t do it. Instead, I do what I hate. 16 But if I know that what I am doing is wrong, this shows that I agree that the law is good. 17 So I am not the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it.18 And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.  I want to do what is right, but I can’t. 19 I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. 20 But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it.21 I have discovered this principle of life—that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. 22 I love God’s law with all my heart. 23 But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. 24 Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? 25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin. ( Romans 7:15-25).

God knows that we try our best to do what is right.  As long as we are in this earthly body there will be a fight between good and evil raging within us and God knows this too. WE have to keep fighting the “good fight of faith” and keep “pressing on” to do what is good. . Keep striving to do what is right. Don’t be upset when you fall. Jesus is right there to pick you so you can continue your journey.

Building 429-Where I Belong

Where I Belong

When I first heard this song, I loved it right from the beginning. The chorus goes: All I know is I’m not home here, this is not where I belong. Take this world and give me Jesus, this is not where I belong.

Some people I talked to do not agree with this song. Everyone has there own opinion and everyone does not always agree. But, I do agree with this song. Philippians 3:20 says, “But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior“.  This verse is telling me that as believers in Christ, we are not citizens of this earth, but citizens of Heaven. Earth is our temporary home, just as the body we live in  is our temporary body.

As I said before, everyone has different opinions and we will not all agree, but as for me, I believe Heaven is my home.  “Take this world and give me Jesus, this is not where I belong”.

Following Christ

ImageWhen I first began road to home, I did not realize how many bumps, turns and twist that would come along the way. The above statement I have found to be true. You really do not know how strong you are until troubles come into your life, especially when you make the decision to follow Christ. Friends and family leave you. They talk about you. This hurts. So, what does it really mean to be a follower of Christ?

In Matthew 16:24-25, Jesus tells us what it will mean and take to follow Him, ”

24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me. 25 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it”. Paul wrote in 2 Timothy 3:12,

Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution”.

What did Jesus mean in Matthew 16:24-25 when he said, “take up your cross and follow me”? I believe he was saying there are many things we like and love that we will have to give up. This includes our friends and family. But most of all it is ourselves that we have to give up. We are now living our life for Christ not for ourselves. The family and friends who do not understand our new way of living and do not want to be a part of our lives any longer, we can not hold on to those relationships. We have to give them up and turn them over to God. God is the only one who can change their hearts. We do not stop loving them, but we simply can not have them in our lives.

This is the hardest thing I had to do. Deciding to let go of a family member(s) or friend(s) is not easy to do. You definitely can not do it by yourself. It takes the strength of Jesus Christ to see you through. Letting go of the people you love is not easy. But, with Christ it is a lot easier.

When you find yourself suffering for Christ. When you find yourself being persecuted, mistreated, and talked about for following Christ, remember this will not break you. Hurt you yes, but break you no. The one thing you have to remember, is that the road that Christ traveled was not easy. The road we travel with Him will not be easy. But, Christ made it through and so shall we. We must simply keep our eyes straight ahead on Christ and let Him guide our path.

A Long Road to Healing- Conclusion

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. (Matthew 16:19)
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” ( John 8:31,32)
 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.  (Galatians 5:1)
I knew in my heart I had to forgive myself. I had to realize that my sister made the choice to cut herself off from the world and her family. I had to realize that it was HER choice to be alone. Every night before going to sleep I prayed for her. I would ask God to watch over her. I would ask God to let her know that I loved her. God reminded me of these things. I did help my sister by praying to God to watch over her.
The word of God is a powerful source. Every problem you and I face can be solved through His word and prayer. I began looking up scriptures on forgiveness. I studied and spoke these scriptures over and over and over again until they became a part of me. I could feel the chains of guilt breaking with each passing day. My freedom would not happen over night, but I knew it would happen. God’s word was setting me free “little by little”.
God kept bringing to my mind the moments I spent with her before she got sick. The Bible studies we enjoyed having. The talks we had about how good God is. The time we would sit and listen to gospel music and get so happy we would get up and dance and praise God! “Remember the beautiful times you had with your sister and do not think about the bad”. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” (Philippians 4:8) With each memory, I began to smile. I began to laugh. I began to be filled with joy. I began thanking God for the beautiful memories that I will cherish forever.
As my road to healing continues, each day that passes brings me so much joy. It is my heartfelt prayer that if any of my readers are chained by guilt, that the few words I have written will be of encouragement to you. There is hope. There is freedom. Jesus Christ loves you. He does not want you to be burdened by guilt. He wants you to be free and enjoy your life.  I love you and I can now shout,
“I AM FREE! I AM FREE! I AM FREE! PRAISE GOD! I AM FREE”! 
You can shout this too.
